Someone explores the challenge of recognizing the individual within the crowd, and how this often leads to a sense of alienation—from both the group and the viewer.

The images are made from fragments of photographs capturing large gatherings of people. In each case, the subjects appear so small within the frame that the grain of the film distorts their features, erasing their identity and leaving only a vague impression—similar to how we often remember strangers in passing.

The large scale of the prints reinforces this idea: the closer you move toward the image in search of detail or recognition, the more the subject dissolves.
